Even with the approval of Kobe Bryant‘s estate to resume releasing his signature products, Nike has been quiet in terms of dropping any new offerings in the latter half of 2022. And that’s because it’s gearing up to have an eventful 2023 as we’ve just received word that the Nike Kobe 4 Protro is slated to make its return to the shelves.

The Black Mamba hoops sneaker went on a streak back in 2019 with the release of striking collaborations alongside UNDEFEATED and the return of the model’s classic colorways. The silhouette — which was designed by Eric Avar — was a pivotal moment for the late Lakers legend’s line as it deviated from the high-top basketball silhouettes that were being pushed at the time and arrived with a mid-like cut. And as it gradually makes its way back into the spotlight the model is going on track to release in a brand new “White” colorway that is complemented b by “Metallic Gold” and “Bright Emerald” accents (the picture above is a mock-up). No early images of the sneakers have surfaced yet, but you can likely expect them to pop up within the coming months.

A May 1, 2023 launch date is what’s currently marked on Nike’s calendar, but the brand hasn’t confirmed anything just yet.
