The 2022 FIFA World Cup hosted in Qatar is well underway with fans around the globe wearing their countries colors with pride watching to see them compete for the title. In addition to invoking excitement, anticipation and triumph, the global tournament also brings a sense of unity and pride amongst communities around the world.

Inspired by these sentiments shown throughout the tournament, FIFA launched the “Spotlight: Your Dreams Campaign.” Through this initiative FIFA collaborated with eight emerging artists from Germany, Argentina, The United States, Canada, Australia, Mexico and Qatar to create art pieces that focus on the untold stories and heroes within communities across the globe while featuring the iconic World Cup Jules Rimet Trophy. Alongside these global creatives, well known social media star Noah Breck was brought on as a Global Ambassador for the campaign to bring along his millions of followers and showcase the emerging talent from around the globe. The eight artists and Noah encouraged fans to create works of art that display their own World Cup Dreams synonymous with their home country.

Submitted via social media with the #FIFADreamContest, only 16 pieces of fan-made art were chosen and placed in a bracket-style competition to then be voted on by the public. Chosen as the winner for the contest was 32-year-old Jose Luis Am from Argentina. His piece depicted how two of Argentina’s legendary footballers Leonol Messi and Diego Maradona are images of inspiration of what is possible for the nation. As the winner, Jose will travel to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar to cheer on Argentina this year.“I am delighted to win this competition.” said Jose Luis Am “I truly believe that art and football can allow you to dream, so being able to combine the two and show that through this competition was really special to me.”

This contest not only showcased emerging artists, but also the unifying energy this special tournament brings every four years and highlighted stories from communities that might possibly would’ve gone untold without this contest.
