Raf Simons Announces Upcoming Smiley Collaboration

Taking to Instagram, Raf Simons recently announced an upcoming collaboration with Smiley.
Releasing next month, the team-up from the Belgian designer’s eponymous label is expected to center around the basic yellow and black ideogram that represents a smiling face. Since the 1950s, Smiley has served as a form of communication, evolving through the prevalence of emoticons and now emojis.
The collab with the iconic part of popular culture builds on Raf’s obsession with exploring markers of culture. “I love the optimism Smiley projects. I love the focus on a brighter and better future,” said Raf Simons.
