COMME Des GARÇONS‘ fragrance department has teamed up with lifestyle outfit Monocle for a new “Yoyogi” candle. The two’s fourth scent collaboration, “Yoyogi” is inspired by the smells of a morning run through Tokyo’s heavily-forested Yoyogi Park.
As one might expect from a candle inspired by the great outdoors, “Yoyogi” provides a fresh and woodsy aroma with notes of cypress, chamomile and oakmoss. The candle itself is undyed, and its white wax sits in a black ceramic cup with white branding. It weighs in at 5.8 ounces, and was made in France by COMME Des GARÇONS’ artisanal fragrance team.
COMME Des GARÇONS and Monocle‘s “Yoyogi” candle follows in the footsteps of collaborative “Hinoki,” “Laurel” and “Sugi” scents, and besides a candle is also available in cologne form. It retails for $80 USD (or $72 USD if you’re a Monocle subscriber) and is available via the Monocle webstore now, with an estimated shipping date of late September.
In a less serious sector of the packed world of home fragrances, IKEA recently debuted a HUVUDROLL candle that was designed to smell like its famed Swedish meatballs. COMME Des GARÇONS is busy on other fronts as well, with its SHIRT imprint recently crafting a fresh take on the ASICS Tarther.
