Tom Ford has launched three new colorways of its Ocean Plastic Timepiece, made entirely from plastics recovered from the world’s oceans. Each of the timepieces comes with interchangeable braided straps, in either black, deep blue, bright yellow or hot pink, and finished with a matte black dial.

In a release, Ford said: “When I think about summer, I think about colors that look great with summer skin. In a way like swimsuit colors. Hot colors.”

The Ocean Plastic Timepiece features a 40mm black dial, white Super-LumiNova coated numerals, indices and diamond-cut hands. The covering is made from sapphire glass crystal, while the watch also features a matte black diamond-like carbon coated stainless buckle fastening.

Committed to being environmentally responsible, the watch is composed of 100 percent ocean plastic collected from oceans, coastlines and landfills. Additionally, transportation of the ocean plastic materials is carbon neutral and its Switzerland-based compounding is solar powered.

The collection aims to address plastic waste, which currently contributes to around 11 million tons of ocean pollution yearly. Each timepiece will repurpose the equivalent of approximately 35 bottles of plastic. “Sustainability is increasingly important to us all,” noted Ford.

Retailing at $995 USD, the watch is now available to purchase exclusively at Tom Ford Boutiques and online at Tom Ford’s website. The pink colorway is also available exclusively at Mr. Porter.

Among this week’s other timepiece releases, Todd Snyder has launched its second Q Timex exclusive.
