As the release date for the supervillain film nears, the new still gives the audience yet another sneak peek, showing off the action film’s titular characters including John Cena as Peacemaker and Idris Elba as Bloodsport. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly one of the main protagonists, Margot Robbie, reveals details to fans confirming that, “The first set we shot on was this beach. It was so amazing. Palm trees. An ocean with a wave machine in it. Pyrotechnics. Special effects. Explosions everywhere. It was like being in a proper, crazy war movie.”
The film’s producer Peter Safran also provides fans with an extra tidbit surrounding Cena’s character describing the Peacemaker as being obsessive with conflict-free situations, “He has this moral code that seems skewed by the amount of violence he inflicts. It’s like f**king for virginity – he’s fighting for peace.”
Other cast members confirmed to appear in The Suicide Squad include Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Joel Kinnaman as Colonel Rick Flag, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang and Pete Davidson as Blackguard, just to name a few.
Earlier this week, the director also answered a few questions surrounding the runtime of the film on Twitter, later confirming that the film will be 2 hours and 12 minutes long. The Suicide Squad arrives in theaters and HBO Max later this summer on August 6, 2021.
