Acclaimed Japanese Graffiti Artist SNIPE1 Releases 'aILLEGAL' Print

SNIPE1 is the acclaimed Japanese graffiti artist with a career spanning nearly three decades. The artist is best known for his multi-referential works that highlight manga, anima, Edo period and Internet-age subjects. Most notably, he merges Japanese characters and symbols with a psychedelic color palette alongside a blend of Euro-American graffiti techniques to create his dynamic compositions both on the canvas and on the street. “Whether on canvas or on the street, Snipe1’s unapologetic elevation of street culture and the underground graffiti scene pushes the boundaries of both graffiti and art,” said Shadow Gallery in a statement.

SNIPE1 recently unveiled a new special edition print entitled aILLEGAL, made in collaboration with Shdw Gallery. Releasing in a limited edition of 50, the artwork portrays a cartoonish subject with mouse ears with the words “Everything I Like Is Illegal” in his signature graffiti, hand style. Each edition measures 16.5 by 22.8 inches and are all printed on high quality paper made predominantly with bamboo fiber and archival ink.
