ASICS Adds Velcro Straps to the GEL-PTG

An alternate style for the retro basketball shoe.

ASICSGEL-PTG is a throwback basketball sneaker from 1983 that’s since become a lifestyle favorite, and now it’s surfaced in two velcro strap-equipped makeups. Available in either airy white or elegant black, both styles supply an effortless retro athletic look with particular flair thanks to the absence of a standard lacing system.

Each style features an upper made of crisp leather. Both also use suede on the midfoot Tiger Stripe for a material contrast — the white pair opts for a tan tone while the black pair keeps things tonal, though its suede is a slightly lighter shade of black than the leather base. In place of laces, each also features a two-strap system with a dual-pronged strap towards the toebox and a single strap atop the collar. Tonal branding is embroidered directly on the heel and sits above the tongue on a tag. Down below, the white pair supplies an eggshell midsole and the black pair a black midsole to complete the look.

Both colorways of the ASICS GEL-PTG Velcro are available on the atmos webstore now, each priced at a tax-included ¥14,300 JPY (approximately $130 USD).
