TAKAHIROMIYASHITA TheSoloist. and Suicoke Reshape Medical Military Slippers
Complete with a rounded, rolling outsole.
Suicoke is keeping busy ahead of the transitional season. With Dr. Martens, Descente ALLTERRAIN and Fumito Ganryu joint efforts under its belt, the Japanese label is now introducing its TAKAHIROMIYASHITA TheSoloist. collaboration, twisting two silhouettes informed by medical military slippers.
Issued in the same organic beige-hued textile seen in TKAHIROMIYASHITA TheSoloist.’s Spring/Summer 2021 collection — provided by master fabricator Mario Marenco — the two sandal designs are slightly different depending on whether one’s looking at the men’s (JOHN) or women’s (version); the lateral-side print will differ, as will sizing. Otherwise, the models are identical, one sporting a backless, strappy design and the other utilizing a variety of velcro closures for a snug fit.
The Vietnamese hospital slipper inspiration only plays into the upper, however, as Suicoke has engineered a bespoke rocker-like EVA sole for the bottom of the shoes, lending somewhat less stability than a conventional sole — despite the outsole ridges — while elevating the leverage. Pale ropelike binding both underscores the rugged appearance and connects the insole with the rounded shape below.
Suicoke’s web store, TAKAHIROMIYASHITA TheSoloist.’s flagship and select stockists will all launch the open-toe shoes on March 20.
Meanwhile, TAKAHIROMIYASHITA TheSoloist. recently showcased its avant-garde tendencies with a progressive Fall/Winter 2021 lookbook.
