Southside Announces Retirement From Producing

Esteemed producer Southside, who is responsible for fan favorite cuts like Waka Flocka‘s “F*ck the Club Up,” Pusha T‘s “Millions” and Drake‘s “D4L,” has announced his retirement.

The 32-year-old took to Twitter to share the news, revealing that the upcoming 808 Mafia album will be his last work as a producer. “AFTER THIS 808mafia ALBUM IM DONE IM WHERE I WANNA BE IN LIFE AS A PRODUCER IM DONE,” he tweeted, continuing, “JUST KNO THIS ALBUM IS GOING TO BE GREAT IM STILL GONE LEAD FOR THE CULTURE IM STILL GONE TRY TO PUT NEW PRODUCERS ON BUT AS A PRODUCER IM THROWING THE TOWEL IN AFTER THIS ALBUM I’m done.”

Southside’s career spans a whole decade and has seen him produce for all the biggest names in the rap game, including contributions to projects like Future‘s Monster, 56 Nights and DS2, Drake and Future’s What A Time To Be Alive, Travis Scott and Quavo‘s Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho and Young Thug‘s So Much Fun. He’s also been focusing on the production and songwriting team 808 Mafia, which he founded with Lex Luger.

Elsewhere in music, the three tracks from Drake’s Scary Hours 2 EP is projected to sell a combined one million units.
