COMME des GARÇONS CDG Reissues Fan-Favorite Coaches Jacket
The reversible spring essential is accompanied by another round of staff coats.
COMME des GARÇONS has issued a series of accessible spring items recently, including its latest PLAY TOGETHER offering, and the casual CDG sub-label is keeping the goods coming with a fresh round of covetable coaches jackets. Featuring a new reversible design, the jackets are accompanied by the return of the lightweight cupra staff coats.
A street style staple since its inception as a bit of COMME des GARÇONS GOOD DESIGN SHOP merch, the CDG coaches jacket is everything you’d expect from the wardrobe staple: lightweight nylon shell, gently insulating fleece lining, adjustable drawstring at the hem and elasticated cuffs for an easy fit. The unmistakable CDG branding on the rear appears to be the only graphic accent but this take on the garment is reversible, swapping the chest branding for “My Energy Comes From Freedom” verbiage printed on the inside.
Offered in navy and black, the coaches jacket is joined by a 100% cupra staff coat, a recreation of the original outerwear designed for COMME des GARÇONS staff manning the 1987 HOMME PLUS runway show. The rear of the recent remakes read a little different however, dropping the HOMME PLUS text in favor of “Printemps-Été 1986 COMME des GARÇONS.” This new version also sports text reading “CDG GDC 2021,” doing away with sleeve patterns in favor of a tonal black exterior that emphasizes the text.
Both the coaches jacket and staff coat are available on CDG’s web store for $156 USD and $390 USD, respectively, and will shortly arrive at Dover Street Market‘s global outposts.
