Nike Serves Up the Challenger OG in New "White/University Red" Colorway

In 1979, Nike introduced a new running sneaker to the market that was more lightweight and provided better cushioning: the Nike Challenger. In 2020, the Swoosh elected to revive the OG silhouette, and it is now being delivered in a crisp “White/University Red” colorway.

The key with this rather conservative proposal is that the accenting colors here steal the show, while a band of neutral tones are responsible for making up its multi-material backdrop. Mesh materials build out the tongues and toe boxes, while a canvas material is applied to the quarters, all of which are done up with an angelic finish. From there, its potent “University Red” hue pours onto the leather Swooshes and heel overlays, the latter of which hosts white Nike branding. Moreover, “Summit White” applications are pasted onto the suede overlays which are positioned towards the forefoot, near the throat and on the lower back side.

The bottommost sections of these lifestyle-centric kicks are made with clean midsoles and stark black waffle treading.

If interested in copping, these are available right now through Nike UK, and the retail price is set for £80 (approx. $111 USD).

Elsewhere in the world of sneakers, Nike has just announced its newest Air Max Pre-Day in celebration of Air Max Day.
