Fortnite Season 6 Introduces a "Primal" Biome, a Lara Croft Skin and New Crafting Options
The season also brings new wildlife, which may include dinosaurs later in the season.
Fornite‘s latest season launches today, transporting players to a comparatively barren prehistoric world, immediately following the events of the the Zero Crisis Season 5 finale. Season 6 of Fortnite‘s second chapter, titled “Primal,” also introduces new skins like Lara Croft, Teen Titans’ Raven and of course Neymar Jr.
Players are introduced to the new setting in a short cinematic following Agent Jones. After he contains the Zero Point, a pulse ripples throughout the island which reshapes its terrain and destroys advanced technology. The resulting “primal” landscape features The Spire (in place of the Zero Point) and a town at its center, surrounded by a vast wilderness which holds mysterious forces at its edges, according to Epic Games. Other new named locations here include Colossal Crops (formerly Colossal Colosseum) and Boney Burbs (formerly Salty Towers). The desert from last season has been transformed to an orange-leafed forest which encompasses the three new locations.
New wildlife is abound on the island, spanning from chickens and frogs to wolves and boars, which can be hunted for crafting or tamed. Some dinosaur eggs and bones have also been spotted, leading to speculation that dinosaurs may appear later this season. Epic Games teases as much in its blog post: “the most fearsome predators have yet to hatch,” it reads.
Weapons like a Primal Rifle and new bows can be crafted from wildlife materials and technology that escaped the pulse. Some bunker chests also survived the island’s transformation and new advancements will arrive as the season progresses.
Nintendo also recently announced that it will release a set of Switch Joy-Cons themed after Fornite‘s Peely and Battle Bus.
