Jack Dorsey's Very First Tweet Auctioned as NFT, Current Highest Bid Is $2.5 Million USD
“just setting up my twttr.”
Jack Dorsey‘s very first tweet is being sold as an NFT, non-fungible token, and the current highest bid is a whopping $2.5 million USD.
Dorsey’s tweet from March 21, 2006, a simple five-word line that reads “just setting up my twttr,” was put up for bidding on a platform called Valuables. Originally, the bid for the tweet started at $80,000 USD, later taken over by tech entrepreneur Justin Sun for $2 million USD. Now, the highest offer is coming from Sina Estavi, CEO of Bridge Oracle. For those who aren’t yet familiar with NFTs, it’s basically ownership of the original code to the virtual item, and you can’t trade it for other NFTs. In the case of this tweet, buying its NFT will be like getting a certificate that says you’re the owner of the original tweet. This tweet will live online as long as Dorsey or Twitter chooses to keep it up.
