AGR Is Reinventing Knitwear for Rebellious Anti-Conformists

Emerging British label AGR continues to develop its unique take on knitwear for Fall/Winter 2021, this time around pushing the boundaries by introducing new techniques, prints, and an expansion of its garment selection.

For FW21, AGR’s creative director Alicia Robinson found inspiration from relocation and growth — something many of us have gone through since the start of the pandemic. For Robinson, this meant moving to a larger studio which, in turn, gave them more space for creativity. The results of this inspiration are clear throughout FW21’s offering, as knits in typical forms have been transformed using printed and hand sprayed gradients (the latter being performed by Joe Holbrook), digital swirl prints, and other muted plaited mohair stripes to bring a sense of dynamism to otherwise striped sweaters.

Cotton ribs are plaited with mohair in a custom method to give pieces an extra fuzzy layer from within alongside structural support and a weight that implies the sweaters are more luxurious and expensive than they actually are. Elsewhere, the sweater has been interpreted further to become gradient dresses made from interlocking lace-like mohair, while new feather-down puffer jackets inspired by the ’90s, as well as cropped puffers and knit mix bombers, also appear.

Overall, AGR’s FW21 collection is here to brighten up your wardrobe once and for all. Take a look at the collection in the lookbook above, and expect to find the collection in stockists such as htown sometime later this year.

In other news, Slam Jam’s Luca Benini has opened the doors to his 30,000-piece archive.
