HODINKEE John Mayer x G-SHOCK Sells-Out in Seconds
Examples of the $180 USD watch appear on eBay for $1,300 USD.

HODINKEE’s latest collaboration with seven-time Grammy winning musician John Mayer and G-SHOCK is proof that the market for flipping watches isn’t just reserved for five-figure Swiss watches.
The $180 USD limited edition DW6900-PT80 sold out quickly after going on sale through the HODINKEE Shop and G-SHOCK, with estimates from customers on social media ranging between one and two minutes. Production numbers haven’t been disclosed for the edition.
But within an equally short space of time the first listings appeared on eBay, with some resellers using HODINKEE’s own images, while others chose to post photos of their order confirmation emails.
At the time of posting there were around 100 listings for the watch on the auction site with prices ranging from a fairly modest $380 USD Buy It Now from one US seller all the way up to the £1,000 USD (approximately $1,324 USD) asked by one UK seller.
As with the trio’s first collaboration 12 months ago – which also proved a hit on the resale market – the new DW6900-PT80 is inspired by the color scheme of a Casio keyboard from Mayer youth, the PT80, and adopts the same off-white block color for its resin case and strap with accents taken from its buttons and lights.
The 53.2mm watch features a Japanese-made quartz movement, a 24-hour clock, 1/100th second stopwatch, a 24-hour countdown timer, alarm, flash alert and backlight with afterglow.
