Rick Owens has continued his collaboration with Veja, linking up with the brand for a fifth time to create an all-new sustainable footwear capsule. This season’s collaboration focuses on two silhouettes — the Performance Runner and the Hiking Style — both of which bring Owens’ signature design touches to Veja’s vegan ethos.
The Performance Runner is an adaptation of Veja’s Marlin silhouette, with an understated upper sitting atop a technical midsole that nods to its performance origins. The sneaker is constructed from a recycled polyester knit, and a 65% bio-based outsole. For this collaboration, the Performance Runner arrives in “Hunter,” “Carnelian” “Black” and “Pearl.”
The outdoors influence on the Hiking Style is referenced through its rugged sole unit, which includes an outsole constructed using Amazonian rubber and rice waste, and a midsole partly constructed from sugar cane. The silhouette’s upper uses C.W.L. — a vegan and 54% bio-based leather alternative — and organic cotton. The Hiking Style is set to launch in three colorways, “Black,” “Dust” and “Honey.”
The Rick Owens x Veja Hiking Style is due to arrive on November 4, with the Performance Runner set to follow on December 3.
