Microsoft Adds 76 Games to Xbox's Backward Compatibility Program
Including the entire Max Payne series and F.E.A.R franchise.

During Xbox‘s 20th anniversary event on Monday, Microsoft announced that it is adding 76 games to the Xbox backward compatibility program.
Among the titles added to the library are the entire Max Payne series and F.E.A.R franchise, along with Skate 2 and Star Wars: Jedi Knight II. Each game added to the program will support Auto HDR on both Xbox Series X and Series S consoles. Additionally, each game will receive increased resolution — on the Xbox Series X and Xbox One X, titles will be available at four times their original resolution, while the Xbox Series S will provide three times the native resolution and the Xbox One S and Xbox One will receive double.
Further, 11 of the added games will support FPS Boost, which increases a title’s framerate up to 60 frames per second, and 26 pre-existing titles will receive FPS Boost support. Among those titles are Fallout: New Vegas, The Elder Scrolls IV, Dragon Age: Origins and Dead Space 2.
The massive addition marks the first time that Microsoft has expanded the backward compatibility library since 2019, when the initiative was supposed to be halted. The company has confirmed that this latest drop will be the final update to the program.
“While we continue to stay focused on preserving and enhancing the art form of games, we have reached the limit of our ability to bring new games to the catalog from the past due to licensing, legal and technical constraints,” Xbox Compatibility Program Lead Peggy Lo wrote in the announcement.
