Jaume Plensa Unveiled a Massive Sculpture on the Hudson River Waterfront
The 80-foot statue is visible from Manhattan and Jersey City, NJ.
Jaume Plensa has become a seminal figure in the art world for his large-scale sculptures that have graced nearly every corner of the globe. The award-winning Spanish artist uses a variety of technological methods to create human depictions that reflect on our inner tranquility.
For his latest installation, Plensa has unveiled a massive sculpture of a woman’s head with her hands raised to her lips on the Hudson River Waterfront. Standing at 80 feet tall, Water’s Soul is the artist’s biggest work to date and can be viewed from both Manhattan and Jersey City, NJ.
“The water, when it moves, makes a special sound,” said the artist in a statement, noting the way the sculpture complements the surrounding space. For a city that features arguably the most iconic skyline in the world, Water’s Soul is a fitting addition that will cause one to stop and think — even for just a moment.
