After more than two months since the launch of Fortnite‘s Impostors game mode, Epic Games has finally acknowledged that it took inspiration from InnerSloth‘s massive hit Among Us, giving credit where it’s due.

In the introduction of its latest patch notes for the battle royale, Epic wrote that “v18.20 brings improvements to Impostors, the game mode inspired by Among Us from InnerSloth!” While the developer doesn’t go on to mention either of those names again in the rest of the update, it does finally mark a change in tone from the company, which refused to give any credit to InnerSloth when Impostors first launched.

At the time, InnerSloth expressed its dismay at Epic’s move, with a few staff members taking to Twitter. “It would’ve been really, really cool to collab,” tweeted Innersloth’s community director Victoria Tran. “Like game mechanics, fine, those shouldn’t be gatekept, but at the very least even different themes or terminology makes things more interesting?”

Co-founder Marcus Bromander also chimed in: “We didn’t patent the Among Us mechanics. I don’t think that leads to a healthy game industry. Is it really that hard to put 10% more effort into putting your own spin on it though?”

Since the acknowledgment in its patch notes, Epic also reached out to InnerSloth inviting it for a future crossover.

Elsewhere in the games industry, Microsoft is celebrating the launch of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl with two custom SpongeBob SquarePants and Ninja Turtles Xbox Series X consoles.
