Teaming up with a secondhand platform ThredUP, adidas has launched its “Choose to Give Back” resale program.

By printing a “Clean Out Kit” prepaid shipping label on its Creator’s Club app, consumers can now send used products spanning from sneakers, clothing and accessories to adidas for free. Items from any brand will be used for resale purposes — if an item is not in a resaleable condition, it will be shipped to thredUP’s list of reuse partners. Those will sign up for this program will be rewarded with loyalty points and vouchers in return, depending on the products’ value and conditions. The program will expect a wider rollout in early next year, where the in-store options will be provided.

“We believe that great performance shouldn’t come at the cost of the environment. That’s why we’re committed to establishing a circular future for sportswear and with the Choose to Give Back program are helping people to see new possibilities to give old gear new life,” said Katja Schreiber, Adidas SVP, Sustainability.

For more footwear news from the Three Stripes, Sean Wotherspoon’s next adidas Superturf Adventure collaboration is revealed.
