Sony Unveils Its Carbon-Framed Airpeak Drone
Could this be the new DJI alternative?
Sony has finally followed up with its plans to head into the world of aerial videography/photography with the unveiling of the Airpeak drone.
Looking to go head-to-head with DJI’s line of drones, the four-prop Airpeak sees carbon fiber construction with two large landing skids that lift up when the Airpeak is in flight. There’s not much technical info available yet, but from the footage, we can see a large head unit that houses two bulky batteries, and a front-mount camera along with the bottom gimbal that was equipped with a Sony Alpha series camera.
Tested while filming Sony’s VISION-S vehicle, the Airpeak shows a great deal of dexterity as it effortlessly soars through the frigid winter air. Though no price has been revealed just yet, we do know that it will be releasing this spring.
