Fumito Ganryu and Salomon Advanced Combine on Ultra-Minimal XT-4
Tactile sneaker goals.
Fumito Ganryu and Salomon Advanced have teamed up for Fall/Winter 2020 on a pair of monochrome XT-4 sneakers. As previously teased in Fumito Ganryu’s FW20 lookbook, the sneakers are seen to take Salomon’s already technical and minimalistic aesthetic further, delivering a sneaker that’s perfect both on trail hikes and in city settings.
The XT-4 has been around since 2012 and has since become somewhat of a cult staple in the techy footwear field. It’s a go-to sneaker choice for fans of the minimalist black-and-white Japanese avant-garde aesthetic, which makes it the perfect canvas for a collaboration with Fumito Ganryu.
This new offering presents a black upper and a white sole unit, with tactile rope laces sitting on top and Salomon’s proprietary Contagrip™ outsole compound appearing underneath. Combined, it brings one of Salomon’s most successful sneakers (both for its trail capabilities and its new-found appreciation in the fashion world) back into the limelight.
Its clean aesthetic does not distract from the sneaker’s purpose, so only a small Fumito Ganryu logo appearing on the tongue and insole have been added as a finishing touch. The Fumito Ganryu x Salomon Advanced XT-4 will release on August 21 at selected Fumito Ganryu retailers and at Salomon’s store in Shibuya. No price has been disclosed as of yet, but expect it to be in-line with Salomon’s other XT-4 sneakers, which retail for $250 USD.
