'Apex Legends Season 4 - Assimilation' Drops First Gameplay Trailer
Massive changes to World’s Edge.
After giving fans a better look at Apex Legends‘ fourth season’s new Legend Revenant with his own cinematic trailer, Respawn Entertainment has now offered fans a first look at the upcoming season’s gameplay.
Aside from showcasing some of Revenant’s play style and skills as well as new weapons coming to the game, the spotlight in the two-minute trailer is definitely on the revamped World’s Edge map, which has undergone a catastrophic transformation much like the one Azeroth went through during World of Warcraft: Cataclysm‘s release. With the addition of a new Planet Harvester in the center of the map — which shoots out a large red beam to give players “a better sense of directionality and understanding of the center of the map”— the entire World’s Edge has been torn apart, with massive streaks of lava flowing through. “With its large, multi-level design the Planet Harvester is unlike anything else on World’s Edge and brings exciting new gameplay options to the game,” said Respawn Entertainment.
As a result of these lava flows, Capitol City has now also been split into two, with only two points at which players can cross the large fissure: a zipline and a fallen structure. “This allows teams some breathing room to control one side after the drop, reducing the risk of running into 3rd parties from the other side of the city,” says the developers.
For the Apex Legends players out there, Season 4 – Assimilation is now live.
Elsewhere in gaming, Nintendo has announced that it will not be releasing a new Switch in 2020.
