Watch the Teaser for the First James Bond Origin Story to Arrive on Consoles
The video game is currently in development under the working title ‘Project 007.’
The first-ever James Bond origin story in gaming will soon arrive to consoles and computer screens. The upcoming game, developed and published by IO Interactive in collaboration with MGM, EON Productions and Delphi, was announced today under the working title Project 007 and will feature an entirely original Bond story.
Active development for the game is currently taking place at IO Interactive’s offices in Copenhagen, Denmark and Malmö, Sweden with the help of top talent in gaming. Project 007 will be created for modern platforms and systems, powered by the company’s proprietary Glacier technology.
“Creating an original Bond game is a monumental undertaking,” said IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak. “Our passionate team is excited to unleash their creativity into the iconic James Bond universe and craft the most ambitious game in the history of our studio.”
IO Interactive is behind the highly successful Hitman franchise and the cult-classic Freedom Fighters as well other award-winning games in the stealth and espionage genre.
The 007 universe was dealt a bit of a blow after No Time to Die faced numerous delays due to COVID-19. However, Daniel Craig’s last performance as Bond might see a streaming release as Netflix, Apple and other services are rumored to be exploring a $600 million USD deal to bring the film to their platform.
