FriendsWithYou Unveils Experiential Installation in Tokyo's NANZUKA 2G
Including a collaborative KUBRICK sculpture with Medicom Toy.
Los Angeles-based artist duo FriendsWithYou is presenting new experiential works at NANZUKA 2G in Tokyo, Japan as part of a solo exhibition called “Little Cloud.” Founded in 2002 by Samuel Albert Borkson and Arturo Sandoval, FriendsWithYou work in a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, large-scale installations, public playgrounds and performances. In their interdisciplinary practice, the artists seek to relay positive messages of magic, luck and friendship.
The centerpiece of the exhibition is a large-scale installation featuring FriendsWithYou’s recognizable character, the Cloud. “FWY creates experiential works that propose the building of new relationships. Such creations are often contextualized within the framework of “relational aesthetics,” in which the work only comes to take effect through the presence of others, yet the most notable characteristic of their oeuvre is its sheer intuitiveness and frequent emphasis on contingency and play,” said NANZUKA in a statement.
Coinciding with the solo exhibition is a Medicom Toy KUBRICK collaboration featuring the Cloud alongside a capsule collection with Guess.
