For Kylian Mbappé, FIFA World Cup champion, Nike ambassador, and all-around one of the world’s leading athletes, everything started in Bondy. “My style I get from here, all my abilities, this is where I developed them,” the rising soccer star tells HYPEBEAST France. Mbappé grew up in the suburb, or banlieue as they’re known in France, northeast of Paris, where he took his first foray into the sport. “My first steps as a footballer, I took them here, on this field, where I left part of myself,” he explains.

But Mbappé is not the only talent to come out of Bondy. HYPEBEAST France also profiled four young creatives from the suburb – 13-year-old soccer player Ibrahim Fonba, 15-year-old skating champion Morgane Machado, 19-year-old photographer Nicolas Yoka Bikoko and 23-year-old aspiring director Jasmin Nahar.
