Organizers behind music festival Primavera Sound have cancelled plans for a 2020 edition in London. Primavera had reportedly been planning an event at the 10,000 capacity Drumsheds venue in north London, although the organizers were unable to get a permit in time to stage a festival that met their standards.
The London festival would have been the fifth global Primavera event, joining festivals in Barcelona, Porto, L.A. (which was announced in June this year), and Benidorm. According to reports, the cancellation of the 2020 festival does not mean that Primavera will cease its plans for expansion into London, with an event still expected for 2021. Additionally, the Primavera website lists “???” and a blurry image of what appears to be the London Eye for its fifth location.
A source told IQ Mag that the “organizers want it to be as perfect as possible. They could organize it for next year, but now the feeling is it’s better to wait until 2021.”
