Patta Unveils Premium Monochromatic Leather Clarks Originals Desert Trek Collaboration
Referencing Jamaican culture and its love for the shoe.

Patta has teamed up with Clarks Originals on its Desert Trek silhouette, releasing two monochromatic iterations perfect for Fall/Winter 2019.
The Desert Trek is amongst the Patta crew’s favorite Clarks Originals silhouettes and is a much-loved classic in Jamaica — something co-founder Guillaume Schmidt wanted to highlight in this collaboration. Jamaicans affectionately call the Desert Trek the “Bank Robber” after its Trekman logo debossed on the shoe’s rear quarter, and is one of Jamaica’s most loved and worn pairs.
Patta decided to deliver the Desert Trek in two clean monochromatic offerings of black and white. Both are made from butter-soft leather and feature patent leather side panels — where you can find debossed Patta and Trekman branding — as well as a finishing touch of contrast stitching, tonal laces and mixed-leather hang tags.
The lookbook was shot by Stacii Samidin in Jamaica’s capital city, Kingston and features friends of Samidin, Ledger and Damus, who are two prominent figures in the communities of Vineyard Town and Rollington Town. Schmidt also wanted to capture Jamaica’s culturally rich and important music scene, and therefore features emerging new school reggae artist, Mortimer, alongside Ledger and Damus.
Schmidt said in a press release, “I don’t really think people are aware of this role. We see it as our mission to put certain things into perspective and this collaboration is our opportunity to do so.” Speaking on the Samidin-shot campaign, Schmidt added, “It naturally fits into what he does. He doesn’t lose sight of the bigger perspective, always making sure the communities he visits are represented right.”
“We owe this in part to Jamaican culture. The island and its people is one of the reasons this shoe is still hot,” concludes Guillaume Schmidt.
Check out the lookbook in the gallery above. You can pick up both colors from Patta Amsterdam, London and online on August 23, and at Clarks Originals stores such as its Berwick St, London location on August 31.
