'The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance' Sneak Peek Dissects The Re-Imagining of Thra
Explore the re-created world of Jim Henson’s cult classic.
Over the weekend at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Netflix debuted a special behind-the-scenes sneak peek of its upcoming prequel series to Jim Henson’s 1982 cult classic The Dark Crystal, entitled The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. The new video showcases a variety of the designers, producers, and cast briefly discussing the various work that went into the world of Thra and its recreation, from the designing of puppets to the sheer re-interpreting of the original film’s fantasy-driven ethos.
Alongside the brief narration, the video shows off some new previously-unseen imagery of the various characters in action, including the various Gelfling rebels as well as the evil Skeksis. As is evidenced by the set and costume design, as well as the cinematic shots displayed, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is sure to have fans of the original pleased, equally resonating with new audiences due to its innovative take on story-telling.
