'Fortnite' Works With YouFunnyB on Billy Bounce Dance Following Spree of Lawsuits
But Epic didn’t credit him.
Last year, Epic Games was hit by a wave of lawsuits, and the company seems to have learnt its lesson now. Instead of copying yet another dance from an artist, this time Fortnite worked with creator, comedian and Instagram star YouFunnyB to bring the Vine-sensation Billy Bounce dance to players.
The announcement was made by YouFunnyB himself on social media, posting a side-by-side video of a game character and himself doing the dance. Interestingly, Fortnite never credited the creator for the dance, but that fact didn’t seem to faze B-Nard, who wrote on Instagram that “No, they just didn’t credit me. But I’m not trippin. I know yah wanted the dance on fort so we made that happen for yah. all that matters shlim.” His fans also asked if he was paid for the collaboration, but the comedian didn’t reply.
Legally, while Epic Games may have readjusted how it approaches sourcing content for its game, the company is nevertheless not completely off the hook from the previous lawsuits against it. The case is only on hold right now as the alleged victims file for copyright and await the government’s decision. Once approved, it’s highly likely for the legal battle to recommence.
