SCHEPPERHEYN Taps Monty Python for Its FW19 Collection
In tribute to the comedy group’s 50th anniversary.
Since winning the Premium Young Designers Award back in 2016 for best menswear label, Berlin-based designer Verena Schepperheyn has been busy creating unisex collections under her eponymous label. For its Fall/Winter 2019 collection, SCHEPPERHEYN has collaborated with Monty Python, paying tribute to the comedy group’s 50th anniversary.
This season includes a slew of cuts and prints with a focus on reconstructing classic silhouettes while imagery from Monty Python’s How Not To Be Seen is emblazoned throughout. Standout items include short-sleeve button-ups, depicting a scene from the video of an explosion, wide-legged cargo pants, muted workwear jackets, half-zip shirts, printed silk scarfs and padded long coats, to name a few. Materials like knitted wool, organic jerseys, recycled denim and other coated textiles are used over a range of colors and patterns such as brick red, pink, black, plaid and cheetah. The collection also explores the idea of hiding in plain sight through its subtle details and finishings, like hidden pockets and colored inner linings. Other pieces like mini wallets and multi-loop belts complete the expansive assemblage.
