Seiko‘s Prospex division of sports watches introduces the “Solar Tuna” dive watch with LOWERCASE; it was given the nickname for its close resemblance to the “Tuna” diver and its solar-powered quartz movement.
Not far from the classic “Tuna” style, the “Solar Tuna” STBR035-BSM95 also features a ratcheting bezel. Though similar in size and shape, prominent differences occur at the four with the addition of a date function, and in the thickness of the watch. Limited to 300 pieces, the Seiko Prospex x Lowercase STBR035-BSM95 features a grey “Ghost Bezel,” faded lightly to mimic the discoloration in vintage diver watches from sun exposure. It measures 4.3cm across, 2.8cm at the dial and 1.8cm thick. Equipped with a black band and silver belt buckle, the color scheme is mostly monochromatic except at its face, accented in vintage ochre and red. Rounding out the details is Seiko’s solar quartz technology, ensuring a battery life doesn’t need to be changed for more than once or twice a year; a ten-month power reserve is added with the fully-charged watch.
Those interested in this robust timepiece can find it over at URBS for a retail price of ¥43,200 JPY (approximately $385 USD).
