Much like how a certain sneaker can receive a special moniker throughout the course of its life, the same holds true for watches — especially for Rolex. Inspired by the eight-year-old son of HODINKEE‘s Director of Product and Strategy, the “Sprite” bezel color combination takes our attention away from the “Coke” (Red/Black) and “Pepsi” (Red/Blue) color combinations, and directs it towards another soft drink: Sprite.
Working off the latest GMT-Master II reference, complete with Jubilee bracelet and ceramic bezel, the rendering of the “Sprite” bezel sees a lime-green top half fused with a lemon-yellow bottom, and paired with a glossy-black dial. The 24-hr GMT hand follows a similar color combination as the stem is done in the same lime-green while the the arrow head is yellow.
Although this is not the first time a Rolex dive watch has seen the color green — think “Hulk” or “Kermit” — this mixture of yellow and green is by far the most eye-catching, and would make for a fun summer statement watch.
In other Rolex news, this rare gold Rolex Daytona is a powerful piece of F1 racing history.
