'Detective Pikachu' Shares Emotional Earth Day Trailer
All the feels.
With only a few weeks left before it makes its big screen debut, Detective Pikachu has just shared a new emotional trailer to coincide with Earth Day.
The new one-minute clip, which was also posted by the film’s star Ryan Reynolds to his personal social media accounts, showcases a new side to the film that hasn’t been expressed in previous trailers. Instead of its usual quirky jokes and meme-centric visuals, this new trailer plays the track “What A Wonderful World” while Pikachu can be seen consoling his human companion Tim Goodman (played by Justice Smith). “Listen, kid, I know this much,” Pikachu (voiced by Ryan Reynolds) says. “If your dad was here, he would hug you so hard your bones would pop.”
Detective Pikachu lands May 10 and also stars Kathryn Newton, Suki Waterhouse, Omar Chaparro, Chris Geere, Ken Watanabe, and Bill Nighy.
In related news, an exclusive Detective Pikachu card will roll out with the film’s premiere.
