The New 'Cobra Kai' Season 2 Clip Asks "What Type of Cobra Would You Rather Be?"
Sensei Lawrence tries to undo the sins of his past.
Johnny Lawrence is a complicated man trying to undo the errors of his past by retroactively teaching kids not to make the mistakes he did; from his ’80s attitude to the abrasive lessons taught to him by his abusive sensei John Kreese from Karate Kid, who made an appearance in the final episode of Cobra Kai season 1.
Following the ending of the last episode, Johnny meets with his dojo following their win against rival Daniel and his Miyagi dojo, then swiftly punishes his top students Diaz (Xolo Mariduena) and Hawk (Jacob Bertrand) for coming out on top due to their dirty tactics. Although their mantra of no mercy rings true, it’s a lesson instilled by Kreese, and a lesson Johnny feels needs a bit more context.
