NOMAD St. Moritz 2019: See Inside the Exclusive Art & Design Fair
The invitation-only exhibition was held in a mansion in the Swiss Alps.

Since it’s inception in 2017, the NOMAD fair has traversed prestigious locations around the world to bring together collectors, interior designers, architects and art professionals for an exclusive design experience. After its Monaco debut, the invite-only excursion headed to Switzerland’s resort town of St. Moritz for 2018 and last week, the event returned to the mountainous locale for its latest installment.
NOMAD — which was created by Giorgio Pace and Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte — curates a number of galleries from around the world and transports them to “architecturally significant locations,” staging installations that allow visitors to experience each showroom as if they were in the original. Held from February 7-11, the St. Moritz edition revisited the Chesa Planta mansion in the Swiss Alps and presented projects that highlighted contemporary art, rare furniture pieces from the early 1900s and innovative objects. This year’s line-up of galleries included the multinational Almine Rech, David Gill of London, Etage Projects of Copenhagen and Galleria Paola Colombari of Milan, among several others.
Some works, such as Oscar Humphries & Rémi Gerbeau’s presentation of Carlo Mollino and Charlotte Perriand’s wood-filled “Design from the Alps,” focused on utilizing the space to recreate a specific room environment. Meanwhile others, like Berlin’s Functional Art Gallery, honed in on featuring cutting-edge objects and sculptures. Regardless of the piece, the overall mission of its presence in the fair was to “explore the dialogue between design, art and context.”

Shifting over to New York’s art scene, Eric Haze and HUF have teamed up on a mural that coincides with the skateboarding brand’s SS19 collection.
