KOZABURO Perfects Sharp Tailoring and Louche Layers for FW19

Aggressive menswear revisions from the Brooklyn designer.

The evolution of Akasaka Kozaburo’s eponymous label is made all the more apparent when comparing even last season’s looks to the new offerings. KOZABURO Fall/Winter 2019 is an ideal marriage of the Brooklyn-by-way-of-Japan brand’s slick suiting with comfortable sporty garments, yielding what may be KOZABURO’s most accessible collection to date.

Signature touches, like the designer’s beloved 3D boot-cut denim trousers and Japanese Kanji illustrations, are given a seasonal upgrade, offering a thematic complement to the ecru-toned double-breasted coats, navy tunic shirts and trim track jackets. The latter item is indicative of KOZABURO’s adventurous fusion of sportswear and suits, as the lookbook juxtaposes slouchy hoodies and graphic T-shirts with KOZABURO’s trademark denim jackets, raw-hemmed wool blazers and oversized rope belts. The result is a physical manifestation of contemporary styling undercutting traditional stoicness.

Expect the FW19 collection to hit KOZABURO’s web store and stockists later this year.

Elsewhere at New York Fashion Week, Bode debuted her FW19 lookbook.
