Diving deep into questions surrounding humanity.

Jordan Rakei has made a name for himself in the industry over the past few years, staying true to his swooning sound that employs a unique genre-blend of R&B, Jazz, and Electronic production. The singer–meets–songwriter–meets–producer has garnered a range of fans from Jazz icon Robert Glasper to hip-hop phenomenon Terrace Martin, and Bonobo through employing the tenderhearted sound he is known for. After a successful 2018 with his debut LP Wallflower, released via Ninja Tune, the Brisbane-artist has returned to the label with a soul-stirring new cut titled “Mind’s Eye.”

Inspired by dystopian visions of humanity’s future, Rakei states that “the subject of the song is experiencing a technological malfunction which is flooding his mind’s eye with projections of chaos causing him to question his reality.” Rather than infusing the usually highly personal and intimate lyrical portrait into the track, his new single seeks to examine humanity as a whole.

Stream the new track below, and let us know your thoughts on Jordan Rakei’s “Mind’s Eye.”
