Artist Jeron Braxton's Trippy Animations Spotlighted in NYC Exhibit
Using motifs found in video games to tackle heavy issues.
Artist and animator Jeron Braxton is the subject of a current exhibition at New York City’s Thierry Goldberg Gallery. Entitled “You Can,” the show features acid-induced animations found within video game culture as a way for the artist to tackle heavy subject matter such as “mass incarceration, gun violence and the exploitation of natural resources,” said the gallery. One of the three videos spotlighted in the show, “Octane,” features a glitchy high-speed race in a post-apocalyptic world filled with spontaneous moving objects.
Watch “Octane” above. “You Can” is currently on view at Thierry Goldberg Gallery until March 17. In related news, check out this week’s Best Art Drops.
