Floating Points Shares Cosmically-Chaotic Cut "Anasickmodular"
Off the neuroscientist-meets-producer’s sophomore LP.
Manchester-bred electronic musician and neuroscientist Sam Shepherd, most notably known as Floating Points, has shared his forthcoming Crush LP’s third single–a cosmically-aligned electronic cut entitled “Anasickmodular.” The new single rides the album’s recent announcement, with the project being the follow-up to 2015’s critically-acclaimed debut album Elaenia.
Partially recorded live, the new single hones in on Shepherd’s improvisational stage performances. In a recent press statement, Shepherd notes that the track’s name “was a working title that stuck. The main pad audio and vocals are from a live improvisation at Dekmantel festival in 2017.” The track remains littered with extra-terrestrial like soundscapes, wherein Shepherd has employed a variety of skittering synths, chaotically-aligned breakbeats, and masterfully-tweaked modulation to help in exemplifying the track’s cosmic and nearly haunting atmosphere.
You can listen to “Anasickmodular” above. Floating Point’s Crush arrives on October 18 via Ninja Tune.
