monkey time Repurposes Iconic Van Gogh, da Vinci and Vermeer Artworks in Latest Capsule
A new look for ‘Mona Lisa,’ ‘The Last Supper’ and ‘Girl With a Peal Earring.’

Youthful Japanese label monkey time has introduced a colorful collection of layering pieces emblazoned with iconic paintings from three major artists: Vincent Van Gogh, Leonardo da Vinci and Johannes Vermeer. Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa (referred to here by its French title, La Jaconde) and The Last Supper are joined by Van Gogh’s Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear and Pipe and Vermeer’s Girl With a Pearl Earring.
All the items are printed across white shirts and colorful sweaters. The paintings are rendered small and placed sporadically across each item, instead of consistently appearing in the middle. On the opposite side of the garments, the name of each work is scrawled in delicate script, with miniscule warning pictures printed on the sleeves or back of the goods to recall museum restrictions.
The artistic items launch via monkey time’s site and physical Japanese stores on January 18.
Recently, monkey time joined forces with PLEASURES for a limited capsule collection.
