Fender Deluxe Series Presents Don “Nuge” Nguyen
“Life without bass would be like black-and-white TV.”
“Is it better to do burnouts or fade away?” asks pro skater Don “Nuge” Nguyen, who on top of playing in California band Arctic, runs his own music-inspired clothing brand, Volume 4. Deeply entrenched in both skating and music, Nuge emphatically states that “Life without bass would be like black-and-white TV, without color, because it wouldn’t be com-f***ing-plete.” Filmed by photographer Atiba Jefferson for Fender’s Deluxe Series, the intimate portrait follows Nuge as he cruises the streets of LA in his vintage Trans Am, preparing for a show with Arctic and playing his new Fender Deluxe Jazz Bass, a double-cutaway 4-string electric bass with two vintage noiseless jazz bass pickups in the middle and bridge positions. For increased attack and sustain, the Deluxe Active Jazz Bass includes a four-saddle HiMass™ bridge. Other features include a three-band EQ with treble, mid and bass boost/cut, an active/passive switch, and a four-bolt asymmetrical neck plate. See it in action above.
