Up to 10 Million People Affected by Dixons Carphone Data Breach
Far higher than the 1.2 million claimed.
UK-based company Dixons Carphone — which owns retail chains including Currys PC World and Carphone Warehouse — has announced that its 2017 data breach affected far more people than initially revealed. An investor announcement from the company revealed that as many as 10 million customers were impacted by the breach, far above the 1.2 million initially acknowledged.
The breach included names, addresses and email addresses, although Dixons Carphone believe that payment details were not accessed during the hack. Since the hack, the company has added new security systems and is currently working with experts to prevent future data breaches.
