James Lidell - Telephone

Jamie Lidell’s impressive Telephone single now receives the official video treatment courtesy of music video director Lindsey Rome. The video features Jamie, a woman, and a telephone in front of a red theater curtain. The video may come off as very minimal but the performance itself speaks volumes. His album Compass is out now via Warp and here’s what James had to say about the video:

Exploring the libidinal economics of modern telecomms, “I Wanna Be Your Telephone” was always ripe for a tantalizing, uninhibited stream of images to accompany its naughty lyrical flow. Well, here it is! It’s a dance routine, a mini picture, an ascot, a homemade biscuit, a velvet drape, a hat, a pipe and a satin slip of a video … Relax in the knowledge that naughty is still real nice.
