Eminem's "Stan" Is Officially Added to the Oxford English Dictionary
The English language continues to evolve.

Eminem‘s 2000 smash hit “Stan” is one of his most popular songs to date, and the Oxford English Dictionary has honored the Dido-featuring track by officially adding the word to their database. In the track, Stan is Eminem’s number one fan who ends of unnecessarily taking his, his girlfriend, and his unborn baby’s life because Eminem seemingly ignored his fan mail. After the song was released, “Stan” is now used as a term for an overly devoted fan. In its latest edition, the Oxford English Dictionary has added “stan” to their database, defining the term as “an overzealous or obsessive fan of a particular celebrity” and citing Eminem’s song as the origin of the word. Take a look at the new addition here and revisit the classic track and video below.
