The Latest 'Breaking Big' Episode Examines Eddie Huang's Rise

For the latest episode of Facebook Watch‘s Breaking Big series, OZY and PBS is examining the life and career of Eddie Huang.
Focusing on what led to “some of the world’s most influential” and talented individuals receiving their big break, Breaking Big focuses on telling the full story behind specific periods in each subject’s rise. For Eddie Huang, journalist Carlos Watson looks at how the renowned chef, author and entertainment personality went from being a bullied immigrant child in Florida to one of the most popular figures in American television and the current culinary landscape.
“There are many stories of people who eventually become great at what they do — when you trace back to their childhood or teenage years, there’s a lot of pain,” shares Angela Duckworth, a University of Pennsylvania psychology professor. “It’s almost like they take anger and they spin it into a kind of ambition. To me, that sounds like the story of Eddie.”
