Following the unprecedented success of its first season — garnering Game of Thrones-type numbers with an estimated 13.2 million viewers — season two of Westworld finally hit the airwaves late last month to the joy of fans far and wide.

With that in mind, HBO recently announced that it will renew the popular series for a third season. However, given the super lengthy layover (approximately a year and a half) between the first two seasons, it remains unclear of when we can expect the third installment to drop.

When asked to comment on the big news, HBO programming president Casey Bloys had this to say:

“It’s been an extraordinary pleasure to work with the exceptionally talented Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, as well as their gifted cast and crew.”

“From the inspired storytelling to the incredible visuals, we are so excited to see where the next chapter will take us.”
