Vans Drops an Unexpected Sneaker Collab With Michelin
For safe teen driving.

Skate imprint Vans has linked up with French tire company Michelin on a collaborative footwear range featuring limited-edition Sk8-Hi and Old Skool models. Both silhouettes boast a blue and white checkerboard print upper featuring the Michelin Man’s face in the white cells, as well as bright yellow accents at the tongue tab, inner lining and foxing.
The Michelin x Vans project was made with the intention to promote safe driving, specifically bringing awareness to issues such as unsafe tread and over/under-inflated tires. According to Michelin, data shows that four in 10 teen drivers are driving with tires that could be unsafe; additionally, 300,000 of 2.2 million yearly accidents in the U.S. involve teens driving with faulty tires.
Only 100 pairs of the Michelin x Vans sneakers will be available via Michelin’s Street Tread contest. You can enter the contest by posting a picture on social media (Instagram, Twitter or Snapchat) that shows proper tire maintenance and the hashtag #StreetTreadContest. Head over to the contest’s website to learn more.
