With the increasing popularity of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, many players are now reporting that they are being hit with a unique malware.

Unlike traditional malware, the new malicious software affecting computers locks computer files until users play PUBG. Considered as a new form of ransomware, users must play a certain amount of the hit Battle Royale-styled game to regain access to their personal files. But fear not, if you encounter the PUBG malware you can simply play one hour of the game or enter the unlock code.

Check out the ransom note message users received after being hit by the ransomware below and let us know what you think about the unique malicious software.

For more gaming news, PUBG Corp. is now suing mobile clones that are infringing on its game’s design.
